Bring your own number
Connect a phone account you already have — Twilio or Vobiz — and run Intrlume agents on the numbers you already own, in any country you operate in.
If you already have a phone account and numbers, you don't have to get new ones from us. Bring your own connects that account to Intrlume so your agents call from — and answer on — numbers you already own.
Two providers are supported today: Twilio and Vobiz.
Bringing a number works on every plan, including the free trial. It doesn't count against your plan's number allowance — that covers only numbers on your workspace from us. It's the one way a trial workspace can take inbound calls.
What you'll need
-
Admin access to your Intrlume workspace.
-
An account with one of the supported providers, and its credentials from your own console:
Provider Credentials Twilio Account SID and Auth Token Vobiz Auth ID and Auth Token -
A voice-capable number on that account.
Your credentials are stored encrypted and are never shown back to you.
On a different provider? Email hello@intrlume.tech and tell us which — it helps us prioritise.
Connect your account
Outcome: the provider shows Connected, and you can start registering numbers.
Open Telephony
Go to Settings → Telephony and pick your provider from the tab strip.
Enter your credentials
Fill in the fields for that provider — Account SID and Auth Token for Twilio, Auth ID and Auth Token for Vobiz.
Test & Connect
Click Test & Connect. Intrlume checks the credentials against your provider before storing them, so a wrong value fails immediately with a clear message rather than saving quietly and breaking your first call.
Once connected, the card shows Connected and your masked account identifier.
Register a number you own
A connected account isn't enough on its own — tell Intrlume which of your numbers to use, and what for. Register each number for one direction.
Every registration asks for three things: the Phone number in full international format, what it's Used for (inbound or outbound), and the Country it's registered in.
Country is about the number, not your workspace. They're often the same and they don't have to be — a business in one country can bring a number from another. Tell us where the number is and everything that depends on it stays right. It's never inferred, so it's always asked.
Outbound
Fill in the number
Enter the Phone number, set Used for to Outbound, and pick the Country. It must be voice-capable on your provider account.
Register Number
Click Register Number. The number joins your outbound numbers and your agents can call from it.
Inbound
Inbound needs one extra step: your provider has to know to send incoming calls to Intrlume. You do that in your provider's own console, then register the number here so we can verify it.
The console steps differ by provider, and Intrlume shows the ones for yours along with the URL to paste.
Twilio sets the handler on the number itself — one stop in the console.
Copy the URL
Set Used for to Inbound. Intrlume shows the webhook URL — click to copy it.
Open the number in Twilio
Twilio Console → Phone Numbers → Manage → Active numbers → open this number.
Point it at Intrlume
Under Voice Configuration, set "A call comes in" to Webhook, method HTTP POST, and paste the URL. Save it there.
Register the number
Come back to Intrlume, pick the Country, and click Register Number.
Vobiz routes inbound through an Application rather than a field on the number, so it's two stops in the console.
Copy the URL
Set Used for to Inbound. Intrlume shows the URL — click to copy it.
Create an Application
Vobiz Console → Voice → Applications → Create New Application.
Set the Answer URL
Set the Answer URL to the URL you copied, method HTTP POST, and save it.
Attach the number
Open Phone Numbers, pick this number, and attach it to that Application.
Register the number
Come back to Intrlume, pick the Country, and click Register Number.
We check that the number really points at us before saving — and we never change your provider settings ourselves.
Inbound registration is all-or-nothing. If we can't confirm the number is routed to us, nothing is saved — so a number in your list is always one that's genuinely receiving calls. If it fails, check the URL matches exactly, the method is POST, and you saved it in your provider's console before clicking Register Number.
If we tell you the number looks like it's from a different country, the Country and the number disagree — fix whichever is wrong and try again.
Point an agent at it
Open the agent, and on its Profile tab set Call type → Channel to Inbound, then pick this number as Number to answer on. See Configure your agent.
What it costs
Nothing on your Intrlume bill. A brought number sits on your provider account, so your provider charges you for the number and its carrier minutes directly.
Intrlume still charges credits for the conversation — the agent's time on the call — exactly as it does on a number on your workspace from us. Your live rates are in Settings → Billing.
Which number gets used
On a paid plan your agents always dial from your own numbers.
On the free trial it depends on what you hold: the moment your workspace has an outbound number of its own, calls dial from it instead of the shared numbers. Two things follow — your own caller ID shows on the call, and the daytime window that applies to the shared numbers no longer applies to you.
Disconnect or remove
-
Release a number — click Release next to it in Your numbers. This unregisters it from Intrlume and clears the routing you pointed at us. You keep the number on your provider account, so it's reversible: register it again to bring it back.
Intrlume blocks the release while the number is still working — if an agent is answering on it, or a running or paused campaign could dial from it. Point the agent at another number, or stop the campaign, then release.
-
Disconnect the account — removes your stored credentials and the link to that provider. Register the numbers again after reconnecting. It changes nothing on your provider account.
Telephony showing "Not available yet"? Bringing your own phone account isn't switched on for your workspace. Email hello@intrlume.tech and we'll enable it.
